Ghost URL Amazing Link Cloaking Tool For Affiliate Links

If you are an affiliate marketer, you need to check out Ghost URL, a powerful new link cloaking tool that is way, way more than just a link cloaking tool. As an affiliate marketer, you need customers to click on your links if you are going to earn any money. But, unless your link is cloaked, the customer will either see some sort of offputting long string of letters and numbers instead of a simple URL address or, they will see a shortened bit.ly type URL which may also deter them from clicking - after all, they may not know you, they may not trust the link and may not click for fear of ending up on a site that could harm their computer.

What Ghost URL does is take away any of these reservations by presenting your potential customers with a link that is indistinguishable from a direct link to a website. So for example if you are promoting a product available on "www.productsite.com", what your customers will see when they mouse over the link is exactly that, www.productsite.com - no funny letters, long strings of incomprehensible letters and numbers like http://www.productsite.com/#a_aid=4d82debf688d2&a_bid=dc2c5cb3 no links that look like http://mysite.com/productname - just a direct link to a bona-fide website.

Unlimited Use for a Single, One Off Payment

When you purchase Ghost URL - (and it is a purchase, a one time fee, not a monthly bill!), you get a downloadable Wordpress Plugin that can be used on as many Wordpress sites as you wish. It is really easy to download and installs in seconds. See the video below for how to use it. Basically, you enter your affiliate link into the box provided and the URL you want that link to show as into the other box and hey presto, your link is set up and ready to install in your post or posts.

You can also use it on non-wordpress sites that you have created. However it has to be on pages that you have created yourself and can access the html code - you cannot use it on HubPages or similar sites.

Automatically Creates Links For You

Even cleverer than this, is the automatic option which is brilliant if you have an auto blog or article directory. What this does is enter your link EVERY TIME a specified keyword phrase comes up - say for example, as in the video example below, you had a diet blog and wanted to link to a specific diet affiliate product - what you could do would be to set this link up to be automatic every time the phrase 'diet solutions' appeared in a blog post.

It really is as simple as that, affiliate marketing on autopilot!

Use Ghost URL in Affiliate Banner and Display Ads Too

Using Ghost URL is not just limited to links in text - use it to cloak affiliate links in banner ads too.

For example,

1) If you are inserting the entire HTML code, then go to the affiliate panel and get the banner code. It will look something like this:

<a href="http://www.productsite.com/#a_aid=4d82debf688d2&amp;a_bid=dc2c5cb3" target="_top"><img src="http://affiliates.productsite.com.com/accounts/default1/banners/125x125_1-1.gif" alt="Get Product XYZ" title="Get Product XYZ" width="125" height="125" /></a><img style="border:0" src="http://affiliates.productsite.com/scripts/imp.php?a_aid=4d82debf688d2&amp;a_bid=dc2c5cb3" width="1" height="1" alt="" />

Then just use Ghost URL as explained in the video above to create a Ghost URL link for the long string of the affiliate links which I have underlined in the example above and insert the link you want to appear - for example, http://www.productsite.com - then all you have to do is to replace that long string of affiliate link with your new Ghost URL cloaked link and that is what your visitor will see when they mouse over your affiliate advertisement.

2) If your website theme has pre-defined ad blocks, then you probably have to add in the URLs and image sources. In this case, the URL would be whatever you want it to be (whatever the cloaked link is that you have created to cloak your affiliate link) and then whatever the image source of the banner is - if you are not sure what the URL of the image source is, just go to the affiliate banner and get the banner code. Then find the first instance of "img src=" and copy the URL that follows. That's the URL to the image.

Again, the result for your visitor will be that when they mouse over the image, they will see the cloaked link, which looks like a normal URL - not your affiliate link, a long and off-putting string of letters and numbers.

Hi Katie - me too! I have been thinking over nicomp's comment and can only say again, that I have not had any problems using it and have certainly found that my visitors seem to like the direct-looking link rather than the confusing long string of the affiliate link. I am finding Ghost URL very useful for link cloaking and creating links in my blogs.

It will be very interesting to see if you are proven right nicomp. So far I have not had any adverse effects whatsoever but it is very hard to know how best to please Google. I am just concentrating on trying to deliver the very best quality information I can on my sites and make the user experience as good as I can. Of course it is made clear that all links are affiliate links in the disclosure but I still think that users find long affiliate links off-putting.

I expect Google to step on affiliates that use this technology.
