Hubpages How To Add Anchor Text Html Back Link
84I have written this hub about backlinks and how to create an anchor text html hyperlink because of the comments I have received after writing my hub on backlink strategy It seems that many people, like myself have struggled a bit with all this jargon and understanding how to get started.
In my backlink strategy hub, I talked about article marketing as one of the ways of building backlinks to your hubs or other web pages. Many article directories require you to put your backlinks in your resource box in html format, they do not allow you to put them in the body of your article in the way that hubpages do with the little icon in the dashboard of each capsule representing a link in a chain which enables you to insert a link. So, as I found it hard to understand how to create one of these html hypertext backlinks for my anchor text, I am going to explain how you create them and it is really quite easy.
Use Article Marketing To Increase Website Traffic and Create Backlinks To Your Hubs
Backlinks Increase Website Traffic And Boost Page Rank
With article marketing, you can write an article on the same subject as your Hub or website, or on a linked subject, publish it on an Article Directory and create a link back to your site. You must not duplicate your content, what you write must be a new and original article but it need not be as long, around 400 words or even slightly less is ok for most sites. By creating these free backlinks to your page, you gain increase traffic to your website and Hubs in two ways, firstly from people directly clicking on the link in your article and secondly by increasing the number of backlinks to your page, you increase its ranking in the search engines which helps people to find it when they are looking for the keyword phrase or topic you have written about.
Increase website traffic by using article marketing and you will get the benefit of targeted traffic because not only have people read your article and been interested in what you say, they are interested enough to click on the link you provided. This sort of targeted traffic is far more likely to bring you increased earnings because they are more likely to buy or click on another advert of interest on your page.
Business Article Marketing
Business Article Marketing can be very helpful if you want to drive traffic to a website that is not selling a product or service over the internet, but is providing service or product offline in a particular geographic location for instance, if you were a plumber with a small website, working in Somerset UK, you could write articles using keywords related to your service (plumbing services in somerset, best plumber in somerset and so on) and very quickly get your site to the number one position in Google for the keywords you target because there will not be a huge amount of competition for those phrases.
You are unlikely to get a big increase in your website traffic directly from your articles, but the value of the links is in the search enging ranking improvement that will bring more targeted traffic to your site.
Affiliate Article Marketing
When using affiliate article marketing, you cannot put affiliate links into the body of articles as a general rule but some sites will allow affiliate links in the resource box. However, if you use anchor text links cleverly, you can get traffic back to your sales page and in addition, have the opportunity to gather more information from your visitors so that you have the opportunity to sell additional products or services to them in the future.
Write Articles For High Ranking Article Directories Such As Ezine
Let’s take an example of my hub about Pop up Displays. If I was to write a short article about Pop up Displays or another aspect of Exhibitions and Trade Show stands, I could submit this to an article publishing site such as Ezine Articles which is a top ranking and probably the most popular of all the article directory sites. By creating an article here, I can get free backlinks to my Hubs or any other Webpages I want to promote. Ezine has a Google Page Rank of 7 and the value of the links you create will be much higher than links from a new directory with only a page rank of 0. Article marketing is a great way to get backlinks for free.
It is easy to set up an account at Ezine and once you have gone through the set up process, you will be able to submit the article. Unlike Hubpages who make it really easy for you to enter links into the body of your hub by providing link capsules where you just have to put the URL of the site or page you want to link to, in Ezine and in many of the other article directories, you have to create a html hyperlink yourself in order to create a link back to your site or hubpage. It is not permitted on Ezine to put these hyperlinks in the text, you have to put them in what is called the ‘resource box’ at the bottom of the page. Some article directories, do allow you to put links in the body of the article and provide you with a build link button like Hubpages do. Read the submissions guidelines though as many directories do not allow you to put your links in the first paragraph.
Contextual Anchor Links Are Very Valuable
An anchor text link is the most valuable link you can build in your articles. By anchor text, I mean choosing one of your main keywords or keyword phrases as the anchor text and making these words ‘clickable’ as the link to your page, the words ‘anchored’ to the URL you are using as your link.
The reason for this is that contextual anchor text links tell Google that (for example) I have written an article about pop up displays and I have a link for the keyword phrase pop up displays coming from a high page rank page. It gives more authority to my hubpage because google can look at what I have written and see that it is about pop up displays. It would not do me much good to write a hub about pop up displays and then create an anchor text link ‘pink fluffy bunnies’ because Google would see that it had nothing at all to do with what the page was actually about! This is why it is called a contextual anchor link – it is in context with the subject of my page and ideally should be your main keyword phrase from your title.
How To Create Anchor Text Backlinks
So, let’s pretend that I have written an Ezine article about creating backlinks. It is general and not copied from this hub or my other backlinking hub and I have copied it all into Ezine and I am now ready to create my resource box with the links. I want to include my first link (you are allowed two) in a sentence so what I might want it to look like, is something like this:-
Author Alison Graham has written two Hubpages Hubs on promoting Hubpages and other web pages by creating anchor text backlinks.
If I wanted to make the actual words anchor text into my anchor text link, I would have to create an html hyperlink and this is how you do it.
In the example below, I have used the URL of my Hubpage on Backlink Strategy in the Hyperlink text. The URL of your Hubpage is the address, beginning with http:// that appears in the brower window at the top of your screen when you are actually viewing the page.
Please be sure to always check backlinks in the 'preview your article' window. You can then be sure that they look correct (that the right words are selected as anchor text and that the spaces between words is correct) and that the links work properly, click on them and make sure you end up where you want to be!
Your Recipe For An Anchor Text HTML Backlink
First of all, you need to preced your hubpages page URL address (or the address of any other webpage that you want to link to) with
<a target="_new" href="
This is the code that signifies the start, followed by the code that makes the link open in a new window - so that the viewer does not navigate away from your article when viewing the link (this is important, because they might not find you again!).
Then you put in your page URL (with no space in between)
<a target="_new" href="http://hubpages.com/hub/Backlinks-SEO-How-To-Create-An-Anchor-Text-Html-Hyperlink
Then you add
<a target="_new" href="http://hubpages.com/hub/Backlinks-SEO-How-To-Create-An-Anchor-Text-Html-Hyperlink
Then you add the keyword phrase you are going to use as your anchor text enclosed by >at the beginning and< at the end.
<a target="_new" href="http://hubpages.com/hub/Backlinks-SEO-How-To-Create-An-Anchor-Text-Html-Hyperlink">Anchor Text<
Then, to finish it off, you need the html that shows this is the end of the information /a>
<a target="_new" href="http://hubpages.com/hub/Backlinks-SEO-How-To-Create-An-Anchor-Text-Html-Hyperlink">Anchor Text</a>
So, if I wanted to make the the first sentence of my resource box
Author Alison Graham has written two Hubpages Hubs on promoting Hubpages and other web pages by creating anchor text backlinks.
appear in that resource box with the words Anchor Text appear as the actual clickable anchor text link to my hub, I would have to create the sentence including the html hyperlink as follows:-
Author Alison Graham has written two Hubpages Hubs on promoting Hubpages and other web pages by creating <a target="_new" href="http://hubpages.com/hub/Backlinks-SEO-How-To-Create-An-Anchor-Text-Html-Hyperlink">Anchor Text</a> backlinks.
So, your recipe for a hyperlink for any web page is
<a target="_new" href="http://your web page address exactly as it appears in your browser window>your anchor text phrase</a>
Copy and paste the example code into an application like notepad and save it as a .txt file so you can use it whenever you need to create anchor text backlinks!
Create An Anchor Text Backlink By Using The Link Button
If the directory you are using allows you to put links in the page itself, it may well have a link icon just like hubpages does at the top of each text capsule. In this case, all you have to do to create your hyperlink is to highlight the words you want to use as anchor text, click the link button and copy and paste the URL of the page you want to link to in the box that comes up. Where you see the word ‘target’ select the option _blank or type this in and this will ensure that the link opens in a new window so the visitor will go back and finish reading the rest of the article and hopefully use your second link too.

Want to find out more about Keyword Research and Backlink Strategy?
If you find keyword research difficult and spend ages trying to find keywords that are either:
- 'buying keywords' - that is, keywords that people use if they are actually intending to buy that product - which are the ones you want if you are using Amazon or another affiliate program as a source of revenue,
- keywords with a good 'cpc' which are the ones that earn you more adsense revenue
- or for your hubpages articles, keywords that preferrably are both!
If you are having problems finding keywords
- that have high search volumes
-
that have low competition
Market Samurai is a brilliant tool.
You get a free trial period to test it all out for yourself and during the trial period, you get the opportunity to check out all the other features of Market Samurai - it does so much more than keyword research and even if you decide not to buy it (a one off payment, no monthly subscription), you still get to keep the 'basic' keyword research tool - for FREE!.
If you would like to learn how to creat backlinks using a variety of free resources on the web (without having to buy any additional software), here is a link to Shane Melaugh's brilliant Backlink Battleplan. I am using this myself and have found it very helpful, especially as it is, as the name implies, a plan and there are easy to follow step by step video guides to ensure that you understand everything before going onto the next step. There is a downloadable pdf file of the program for those of us who prefer a paper copy to refer to and print off checklists so you can make sure you do not forget anything.
More Backlinks Equals More Traffic Equals The Potential For More Earnings
To sum up, creating backlinks for your hubpages will help their search engine rankings, enabling more people to find them and read them. More traffic potentially means more income from your adsense and amazon adverts. Using anchor text backlinks has greater value as your page will become ranked for that keyword – my aim with my Pop Up Displays Hub is to get ranked for the keyword phrase Pop Up Displays (for example). I hope that this hub has helped you to understand how to create your own anchor text html backlinks to promote your hubs and web pages.

thanks! I never understood anchors!
really usefull before i didnt even know how to ad tags.. but head off to you.. but how one can change anchored text look diffrent such as:-
it would show Induswebi as anchored but i want the text would change automatically.. how...?
I find this very confusing.
For one thing, HTML,when is at least 3 lines if not longer. Try to use that as hyperlink is impossible, because this long HTML code or as you have it here is not considered a URL and is rejected by blogger, etc.
Target="_blank" Nice post, thanks for the share. Vote up!
Great though the jargon words make me dizzy. thanks for this.
I am new to use the seo techneeqs i want to use this for this site
I have been looking for this type of article, easy to understand and with step by step instructions for non-techies like me. Thank you for this.
Your article is very helpful and well written but I would suggest minimal coverage and more Hubs to possibly hold the readers interest and make it a more enjoyable read. Excellently written with clear, precise language, but the jargon concerning the html tags combined with backlinks and marketing articles makes for idea confusion and less focus content.
Very instructive hub. I am still trying to maximise traffic to my hubs but with your link tips it will surely help!
I found this hub very detailed in explaining about the anchor text. It is also not confusing as compared to other articles I have read about how to create an anchor text hyperlink for SEO. I plan to apply to as soon as possible. Hope it help increase my rankings too. More power and thanks for sharing the knowledge.

Hi Alison, thankyou for this very helpful article. I know a fair bit about writing, but zip about the kind of info you're sharing here. That's the reason I joined HubPages,(only a couple of weeks ago)because I also know that the writing itself is not enough. I'll certainly be following through on what you've taught me here. Thanks again. PS: Voted up and useful.
Hi Alison Graham,

I have bookmarked to come back and go over. I don't have the time to read it all right now
Excellent information that was easy to understand. Thank you very much for explaining.
Great job explaining the how-to of anchor text. I'll also suggest adding in the following to the formula: title="The Title of Your Link", such as the title of the article you're linking to. Happy linking! :)
Great hub on creating anchor text backlinks Alison. I especially found the step-by-step guide useful, as I wouldn't have known how to do it unless there was a link icon
Great hub.Thank you for sharing your knowledge.I like your hub.I satisfied with your information.
This was a really help hub on how to create Anchor text back links. I've book marked this hub and I shall revisit it to keep my knowledge fresh.
Back links are where I get overwhelmed. For some reason I am not getting it right and am becoming a bit discouraged. I have come to realize, careful planning of back links is an important part of making the article worthwhile. I think one of my problems is moving past the information to creating revenue. I need a good transition adjustment. My topics seem to mostly target information seekers.
Very useful information, Alison, may I request you to please short list or try to provide some kind of list where people may put in plenty of Anchor text Links in the articles they publish, or in the press releases. As far as I have seen many of the sites do not allow to put HTML text in article submission or a press releases, they publish.
thanks alot for ur hardwork
Hi Alison, thanks for outlining the steps for creating the links. I have an Ezine account but I haven't submitted any articles yet. I heard there is a Wordpress plugin for doing that too. I'm glad Hub Pages makes adding links so easy!
You've done it again Alison! Another great hub and I have 'voted it up'! (First time I've done that and all because you explained it to me!)
Your info is super and I am going to keep re-reading it so I get it down right!
Thanks again - quality information as usual.
Great info it helped me a lot. Thanks.
Alison - This is the approach I am using and yo have given me some good info on article marketing and anchor texts. I'm going to go back and start adding anchor texts into my Ezine articles. Best, M
Informative hub Alison! Thanks.
Regarding EzineArticles, I would like to add that Google loves its backlinks because it is the only Articles Directory that is reviewing the submitted articles manually to ensure the quality.
In my earthquakes-related hubs, I create them with a lot of information and related pictures. I then extract 750 words quality article with a link to the related hub and submit it to EzineArticles. It is still a quick way that takes less than an hour per hub. According to Google Analytics; 10% of my hub views are referral from EzineArticles.
This is great, easy to understand information. I probably wrote on eZineArticles for a year before anyone told me about anchor text links. It was a very enlightening moment, but disappointing that I hadn't discovered it sooner!
Hi Alison,
I am very new to SEO practices involving article writing but this has been a very informative post, thank you for the same!
